Stony Stratford Association

The Stony Stratford Association was inaugurated on October 26, 1972. The aims of the Association are to protect and improve the well being of Stony Stratford townsfolk; to negotiate with any organisation, either statutory or lay, which has influence over Stony Stratford, and to maintain the Community Centre here.

The Association is now registered with the Civic Trust, which is an independent charity whose objective is to encourage high standards of environmental care in the places where people live and work. The Association studies weekly lists of planning applications from Milton Keynes Borough Council and meets regularly to monitor proposals. The biggest issue was the Passenham gravel pits to which they submitted evidence.

It liaises with planning authorities on matters of local concern, such as parking and traffic management. It has a Tree Warden planting and maintaining trees in the local area, and is presently engaged on the new plans for improving signage, with emphasis on historical houses and sites, and organising street furniture. The aim of the Stony Stratford Association is to keep Stony Stratford as "The Jewel in the Milton Keynes Crown".
